A panel discussion was held under the theme, “Qirqos, Born in Addis Ababa through Corridor Development, for Transport Productivity!”

A panel discussion was held at the Kirkos Branch of the Addis Ababa Transport Bureau regarding the development benefits of corridor developments and the tangible results they have achieved in the transport sector.
The office today discussed the tangible results of the transport infrastructure developments achieved in the sub-city through the corridor development with the participation of members of the Kirkos Sub-City and Woreda Councils, stakeholders, and community representatives.

At the opening of the discussion, Ato Wasihun Tarekne, Head of the Addis Ababa Transport Bureau, said that as the city is undergoing rapid development, it is necessary to make the transport sector accessible, ensure its environmental compatibility, resolve issues that cause inconvenience to the community, provide efficient services, expand access to public transport, and make it safe.

Ato Wasihun, who stated that the Anzer branch office is carrying out many activities in addition to being one of the beneficiaries of the corridor development, said that the work on infrastructure developments, vehicle utilization, supply and other issues of concern will continue to be strengthened.
Ato Jamal Sefa, Director of the Directorate of Transport Infrastructure Resources Management, said that there is a need to develop a culture of protecting, maintaining and properly using infrastructure resources by the community, drivers and service providers.
Ato Danhel Eyob, Manager of the Kerkose Branch Office, said that the multi-faceted development works being carried out in order to make the city convenient and preferred for its residents are noteworthy, and he noted that the discussion will enable the city to fulfill the shortcomings in the transport sector, continue to build on the strengths seen, and create a grateful society.
The discussion was attended by representatives from the Addis Ababa Transport Bureau, branch office leaders and experts, sub-district leaders, district council members, and various segments of society.
