Welcome to the Addis Ababa City Administration Transport Bureau
The current Transport Bureau was established under the name Road and Transport Bureau to facilitate road infrastructure and transport services for the former Addis Ababa City Government, in accordance with Proclamation No. 35/2004 on the Re-establishment of Transport Administration Executive and Municipal Service Bodies.
The Bureau was established in accordance with the Proclamation No. 43/2007 on the Re-establishment of Addis Ababa City Government Executive and Municipal Service Bodies to expand and maintain transport road infrastructure, improve the provision of public transport services, facilitate driver and vehicle services, create a sustainable and environmentally friendly transport system, and ensure effective road traffic flow and safety.
It has been carrying out the functions and responsibilities stipulated in Proclamation Nos. 64/2012 and 74/2014.
Finally, Proclamation No. 84/2016 was enacted to guide, monitor, and control the institutions responsible for the transport sector, as well as to enable them to operate in accordance with the city's master plan and transport policy, ensuring the provision of safe, accessible, and environmentally friendly transport.
